The lifestyle
Close to schools in Mauritius
Families moving to Mauritius usually choose the address first by the school run. The island’s international and French schools sit along the central plateau and the north-west coast — from Moka, Floréal and Quatre Bornes to Grand Baie and Tamarin — with primary through baccalaureate, and clinics, sports clubs and tutoring close behind. This is the shortlist of homes that turns the morning into a five-minute journey rather than an hour on the road.
The shortlist
French and international schools
Two systems run side by side on the island: the French curriculum, from maternelle to terminale, and the international route — British, Cambridge, and the International Baccalaureate. Both sit mostly on the plateau and along the north-west coast, so the school run tends to decide the address. These are the schools our clients ask about most; each one says where it is and what it teaches.
- Le Bocage International School
English-medium international school at Mount Ory, Moka, running the IB Middle Years through the IB Diploma.
- Lycée des Mascareignes
French-system lycée at Helvetia, Saint-Pierre, from seconde to baccalaureate on the national curriculum.
- Lycée La Bourdonnais
A French school open since 1953 at Forest Side, Curepipe, following children from primary through the baccalaureate years.
- Northfields International School
International school at Labourdonnais Village, Mapou, from the early years to Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma.
- Saint Exupéry International School
A bilingual French-English school at Chemin Vingt Pieds, Grand Baie, for families who want both languages in the same classroom.
- École Paul et Virginie
French-curriculum preschool and primary school on the Route Royale in Tamarin, from kindergarten to CM2.
- Telfair International Academy
English-medium school on the British curriculum at Avenue des Dauphins, Tamarin, from the early years into the lower secondary years.

South & Centre
The plateau — Moka, Saint-Pierre, Curepipe, Floréal and Quatre Bornes — where the French and international schools cluster, with clinics, Cybercity and the motorway close behind.
North
Mapou and the north-west coast: Northfields above the motorway, Saint Exupéry in Grand Baie, and the coast road joining them.
West
Tamarin and Black River keep the primary years in the village — École Paul et Virginie and Telfair are both there — before families continue to the secondary schools on the plateau.
