The lifestyle

Golf in Mauritius

Mauritius plays golf on courses that would be a destination anywhere else. The east holds the championship layout at Beau Champ; the west runs its fairways past Tamarin and drops to the tee boxes beneath Le Morne. Wherever you base yourself, a round is minutes from the sea — and the clubhouse keeps the table open after the last group comes in.

Key golf areas

Four courses worth building a week around

Golf here is not a resort amenity — it is part of how the island is laid out. The courses below are the ones within reach of the addresses on this page: two on the east coast around Beau Champ and Belle Mare, two on the west between Tamarin and Le Morne. Tee times are booked the same way for visitors and residents, and the drive from the plateau to the first tee is rarely more than an hour.

  • Beau Champ — Anahita Golf Club

An Ernie Els signature course opened in 2008 on the east coast — six holes along the water, wide fairways, and the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open held here.

  • Belle Mare — Constance Belle Mare Plage

Two championship courses side by side at Belle Mare — the Legend and the Links — a short drive north of Beau Champ along the east coast.

  • Tamarin — Tamarina Golf Club

An 18-hole championship course across 206 hectares above Tamarin Bay, designed by Rodney Wright and opened in 2006, with Mount Rempart filling the horizon.

  • Le Morne — Paradis Golf Club

An 18-hole championship course on the peninsula beneath Le Morne, where the fairways follow the shoreline of the bay.
